Etsy Wednesday – Chemistry Crayon Labels

By | 1 Comment

This amuses me. These are labels that you can stick on Crayola crayons. It covers up the existing names, like “burnt orange” and “carnation pink”, and replaces them with the names of chemical solutions, substances and flames that have those colours. I can’t imagine the work that went into matching every crayola colour to it corresponding chemical reaction!

Etsy Wednesday – Party Hats

By | 0 Comments

Etsy Wednesday is back! It’s a Wednesday where I feature a science-themed item from Etsy. It ran irregularly on two previous locations of the blog, and you should be able to find some in the archives. I stopped because I got to the point where I had featured all my favourites, but new things have gone up in the mean…

The return of the buttons

By | 0 Comments

A couple of years ago, I created some buttons with the easternblot flask image. I sold about 60 of them via the site and to friends. I still have some left, so let me know if you really want one Part of the text on the cards reads: Poof! Bubble! Kaboom! Cartoon labs are full of bubbling and boiling coloured…

The majority of the people you meet outside of your lab…

Etsy Wednesday – Happy Birthday, Geek

By | 22 Comments

You can spell words with the abbreviations from the periodic table. It doesn’t always work well because not all letters and letter combinations are represented. To spell “geek”, for example, you need to use one of the elements starting with “E” that doesn’t really fit in the word. This Etsy seller uses Einsteinium (Es) which is at least thematically appropriate…

Etsy Wednesday – The ties that bind

By | 7 Comments

Ties: who wears them? I don’t, but I’m female and don’t have to. None of my male acquaintances wear ties either, unless they’re at a wedding or playing a concert or dressed up funny. These are the only three tie-wearing events I can think of, and that probably says a lot about me and the company I keep… But if…
