SciBarCamp – Friday evening, originally uploaded by smithegroups.

Ryan Kelln and Hartwell Fong each brought one One Laptop Per Child laptop to SciBarCamp.
Here Troy McConaghy and myself are trying them out, and that’s Karl Schroeder looking over my shoulder.

The interface of the OLPC operating system is very simple so kids can work with it without getting confused or distracted. Everything is very visual, so instead of a list of available wireless hubs there is a picture with a bunch of circles, and each circle is a network or other computer that you can talk to. (I hope I remembered that right, this was on Friday night)
